The Limiting Beliefs That Hold You Back
Apr 07, 2026
One of our biggest career blockers are the beliefs we carry without even realising.
Things like:
“The system is as such, I can’t get promoted.”
“I’m new in a role, I can’t ask for much.”
These don’t sound harmful, but over time, they shape how we show up.
When we believe something is unlikely, we stop positioning ourselves for it. We end up doing the job, contributing and delivering without stretching and advocating for ourselves. And then the outcome matches the belief.
What breaks the cycle is choosing to show up differently, paying attention to the people around you, finding a mentor you can learn from, building trust across departments, and speaking up in meetings and offering support wherever you can.
None of that is assigned. But all of it matters.
And when the result comes, not only will it feel good. It will create evidence that the belief was wrong all along.
Final Thoughts
Here’s the part I want you to take away: beliefs don’t change just because we tell ourselves something different. They change when we create evidence and when we take action. They change when we act in a way that challenges the narrative, and when we show up differently, even before we feel ready.
What changes will you make today to change how you think, how you position yourself, and how you take ownership of your career? Share them with me!
Rooting for you,
